Juliana wanted to give this old beauty (a rare necklace by Miriam Haskell), a thorough deep cleaning and the results were terrible, to say the least! The silver beads started to peel rapidly, losing their attractive shine and luster. Every bead was peeling, revealing a creamy underlayer… This restoration project took an unexpected turn!
“Have no fear!” said Juliana, as she took her tools and started to break it apart, working on one dangle at a time! New beads were ordered, Lucite was cleaned, wires and caps were soaked in a vinegar and salt solution – and look at it now! Just as good as it gets!
